More About Ski-Doo® Snowmobiles
Ski-Doo® snowmobiles are some of the most popular on the trail, with the brand being widely viewed as iconic throughout Canada and beyond. While initially adopted by those who needed a way to get around remote snowy areas quickly, such as prospectors, trappers, and surveyors, sport riders soon recognized that these snowmobiles were perfect for recreational riding. If you’re interested in learning a bit more about Ski-Doo® snowmobiles, this guide from Riderz Rocky has the details.
Company History
Ski-Doo® snowmobiles are manufactured by Bombardier Recreational Products. Though BRP got its start producing large snowmobiles that could fit up to seven people, the company began to develop a 1-2 person snowmobile model during the 1950s. Since the vehicle was meant to replace dog sleds, it was called “Ski-Dog”. However, an error cut off the “g”, meaning these vehicles came to be known as Ski-Doo® snowmobiles.
The Models
BRP is not the kind of company that is content to rest on its laurels. The current Ski-Doo® snowmobile lineup contains models designed for utility work, trail riding, and off-trail exploring. Whether you need a lightweight and agile snowmobile or something that can handle a little more weight, there’s sure to be a Ski-Doo® snowmobile that works for your needs!
